The Amazon Fire Max 11 is the latest addition (13th Gen) to Amazon's lineup of the Amazon Fire tablet.
With its stunning display, faster CPU and more RAM, 14-hour battery life, improved (8MP) camera sensor, elevated multitasking capabilities, immersive audio, a fingerprint sensor, 64/128GB storage, premium design and build, and keyboard and stylus support, the Amazon Fire Max 11 is designed to be a “premium” Fire tablet. However, it is not the reborn of the discontinued HDX series.
In this post, the top 10 new features of Amazon Fire Max 11 will be discussed to help you understand the uniqueness of Amazon Fire Max 11. The issues and missing features of this tablet will be discussed in this article.
Stunning Display: Fire Max 11's Immersive Screen
One of the standout new features of the Fire Max 11 is its stunning display.
Amazon Fire Max 11's large (11 inches as suggested by the name), high-resolution (2000*1200) screen offers a wider field of view, allowing users to fully immerse themselves in their favorite movies, games, and online content.
The vibrant colors produced by the Fire Max 11's display add depth and richness to images, bringing them to life in a striking and realistic way. Whether it's the vivid hues of a scenic landscape or the vibrant costumes of characters in a movie, the screen accurately reproduces every shade and tone, creating a visually stunning spectacle.
Surprisingly, the gorgeous display does not support HDR10+.
Powerful Performance: Faster CPU and more RAM
Amazon finally upgraded the entry-level SoC to a higher spectrum (although it is still in the entry-level category) for the Fire Max 11. A “powerful” octa-core processor (MediaTek MTK8188J) -with 2x ARM Cortex-A78 up to 2.2Ghz and 6xARM Cortex-A55 up to 2Ghz. The performance of this SoC is actually close to most middle-range ones.
Amazon also equipped this tablet with 4 GB RAM. Although 4GB RAM is not impressive for any Android tablets, it is a big step forward for Fire tablets, which were capped at 3GB RAM up to 12th gen. If you sometimes need to use the split-screen multiwindow feature, more RAM will always improve the performance.
14 hours Battery Life
Battery life is a crucial factor for any mobile device, and the Fire Max 11 excels in this department.
With its large battery capacity, the device offers 14-hour playtime, ensuring that users never miss a beat. This is the longest battery life among all Amazon Fire tablets. In comparison, Fire HD 8 (12th Gen) and Fire HD 8 Plus (2022) deliver 13-hour battery life. Fire HD 10 (11th Gen) and Fire HD 10 Plus (2021) give an impressive 12-hour battery life.
Please note Fire Max 11 supports up to 15W USB-C fast charging if you use a compatible charger. The included charger is only 9W.
Wireless charging is NOT supported on Fire Max 11 due to the metal back cover.
Improved 8MP Camera Sensors: Clear communications in Zoom or Teams with the Fire Max 11
Obviously, the Fire tablet is not for photography. The cameras on these devices are mainly for video calls.
But the outdated 2MP camera sensors in previous Fire tablets are far behind competitors in Zoom or Teams meetings.
The Fire Max 11 now features improved camera sensors (8MP), both front and rear. They are good enough for all your online communications. The autofocus is also supported by the rear camera, and therefore, you can even use that tablet to take a few photos with the tablet when you cannot use your phone for it.
- BIGGER, BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL — Vivid 11“ screen with 2.4 million pixels (2000 x 1200 resolution) lets you see every detail of your favorite movies, TV shows, and games. Certified for low blue light.
- MAX PERFORMANCE — Built with a powerful octa-core processor, 4 GB memory, and Wi-Fi 6 for fast streaming, responsive gaming, and quick multitasking.
- THIN AND LIGHT — Sleek aluminum design is also durable. It has strengthened glass and is 3 times as durable as the iPad 10.9-inch (10th generation) as measured in tumble tests.
- ALL-DAY ENTERTAINMENT — With 14-hour battery life, maximize your downtime for reading, browsing the web, watching videos, and listening to music at home and on-the-go. Save your favorites with 64 or 128 GB storage, and expand to up to 1 TB with micro-SD card (sold separately).
- VERSATILE FOR WORK AND PLAY — Optional Fire Max 11 Keyboard Case and/or Made for Amazon Stylus Pen (sold separately). Try Microsoft 365 Personal for 3 months (auto renews for $6.99/month after free trial, eligibility and terms apply).
Elevated multitasking capabilities
Amazon tried hard to market the Fire tablet as a productivity gadget, not just an Amazon content delivery vehicle.
The Fire Max 11 was designed to boost productivity. With its relatively powerful processor and moderate RAM, users can switch between multiple apps and tasks without significant lag or slowdown (suffered by previous generations of Fire tablets). However, as explained in this post (coming soon), we do not think Fire Max 11 is a productivity gadget, even bundled with the official keyboard and stylus.
Fire OS 8 only supports the side-by-side view (split-screen) when you want to use two apps simultaneously. There is no pop-up view support (which can be found in some other Android tablets) yet.
Immersive Audio: Elevating Entertainment with the Fire Max 11's Dynamic Sound
To complement its stunning display, the Fire Max 11 also offers immersive audio.
The built-in dual speakers offer decent sound quality and loudness. Dolby Atoms are also supported. You will appreciate the audio when you need to enjoy the videos with the internal speaker.
Please note there is no headphone jack on Fire Max 11.
64/128GB Storage: Expandable Up To 1TB
The Fire Max 11 offers more internal storage capacities compared to previous generations. You can choose either 64GB or 128GB storage. 12th Gen Fire tablets were offered with 32GB/64GB storage for Fire HD 8 and 16GB/32GB for Fire 7.
Like other Fire tablets, Fire Max 11 has a dedicated micro SD card slot. Up to 1TB micro SD card is supported. You can even use the micro SD card as internal storage.
A Fingerprint Sensor on the Power Button
Amazon Fire Max 11 is the first Fire tablet with a fingerprint sensor (located on the power button). So you can unlock the tablet faster. Please read this guide on how to use and set up Fingerprint ID on Fire Max 11.
Please note that none of the Amazon Fire tablets support face recognition.
Premium Design and Build
Amazon can keep the Fire tablets cheap, partially through the design and material used.
Fire Max 11 changed the course. The aluminum exterior and strengthened alumino-silicate glass make the tablet look “premium”, just like other top-tier tablets in the market.
Official Keyboard and USI 2.0 Stylus Support
Unlike the third-party Bluetooth keyboard for Fire HD 10 (or Fire HD 10 Plus), Fire Max 11 can have a directly connected keyboard (through Pogo pins magnetically). So, the official keyboard does not suffer common issues that a Bluetooth keyboard may have. The quality of the official keyboard (with trackpad) for Fire Max 11 is decent.
Fire Max 11 also supports USI 2.0 stylus. You can use any USI 2.0 stylus on the tablet. The active stylus is also compatible with Fire HD 10 2023 (13th Gen).

Hi I have just purchased the Fire Max 11. You say that it can have fastest charge with a 15W charger. I have an Apple 20W charger, can I use this charger?
simon says
Yes, you can use any quality charger to charge the tablet. The 25W Apple USB-C charger should be faster than the 9W charger included with Fire Max 11.
