How to take screenshot on Fire HD, Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HDX tablets?

how-to-take-screenshot-on-kindle-fire-hdxDo you know you can take a screenshot on Kindle Fire, Fire HD, Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HDX 7 and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 without using any apps?

You can easily share with your friends or family members whatever is shown on your Kind Fire  (including Kindle Fire HD, and Kindle Fire HDX) screen: web pages, product images, photos, book pages, app screen, and game achievement screen.

Of course, what can be shared is the screenshot, not the video file, or the app itself.  This Kindle Fire Guide will show you how to take screenshots on your Kindle Fire tablet easily.

Taking screenshots on Kindle Fire tablets is really very easy and simple. You do not need any apps.

In fact, most screen capture apps require a rooted tablet. So, don’t consider any apps to take screenshots on Kindle Fire tablets.

You do not need ADB, which requires a USB connection to a PC for your Kindle Fire tablet. Many app developers like to use this heavy tool.

To take screenshot on Kindle Fire (including Fire HD, Kindle Fire HD, and Kindle Fire HDX), you can simply press and hold both the Power and Volume down key for about three seconds.

You will hear the camera shutter click. Then, the screenshot is saved into your Photos. You can check the screenshot taken in Photos at any time.

If you want, you can edit it on Kindle Fire using all available photo editing tools on the tablet. The screenshot is saved as just a normal image file.

Is taking screenshots for Kindle Fire very simple? This method of taking screenshots is native to all Android phones (Kindle Fire is powered by Fire OS, which is a customized Android) . So if you have other Android phones, you can try this method to take a screenshot next time. It should work.

If you have any questions about capturing the screen for Kindle Fire, please let us know in the comment box below.

Detailed information on how to use the Google Play Store on Fire tablets can be found here.

Amazon disable this for movies for possible copyright issues.

You have to use ADB on your pc to do such things.

Didn’t you find the hardware volume rocker on the opposite site of power button?

Only the very old kindle fire lacks the volume rocker. In this case, you have took install amazon usb driver and use adb tools to take screenshot.

It indicates you pressed the power button too late. You can try to press the power button slightly earlier than the volume down.

it means you pressed the power button too late. To take screenshot on Fire HDX or Kindle FGire HDX, you need press and hold both buttons (power and volume down) simultaneously. In practice, you can press the power button slightly (less than 1 second) earlier.

You can send them as attachment directly.

If you have any file explorer installed (if not, use ES File Explorer), you can find screenshots in picture/screenshot folder. Select any files, then share them to email.

Or you can use computer if you install android developer tools on the PC.

Ok so I found the images but they only show up in my prime photos and not my camera roll which is annoying because it’s harder to get to. You’d think whatever I took ON my kindle would save to the camera roll. 🤔

The screenshot is always saved in the folder of pictures/screenshot in the phone storage. It’s up to individual app to “see” it. You need a Gallery app which can show all photos and videos on the tablet. Prime photos only show pictures after it’s synced with cloud. It’s not designed as local gallery app.

It’s just about timing. If you get the power off option, it means you press the volume down button too late. If you get the volume settings, then you press the volume down button too early (earlier than pressing the power button).

If you need to take a lot of screenshots, you can take it from the PC with adb tools. It’s easier.
